Where?

Our Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 Intensive Courses will run at our main centre: Jacqui Robinson Education Centre, Ipswich Road, Colchester, CO4 0ET.

Each Intensive Course is £499 per week. Payment options include: Pay in 3 instalments, credit card and we also accept childcare vouchers.

Can my child attend multiple intensive courses throughout the year?

Yes.

Each intensive week, the course material is different and completely tailored to your child's needs.

Often, students attend multiple weeks because they are fun, friendly and confidence boosting.

A fun, active, educational and confidence-building course suitable for Year 3, 4 and 5 11+ students. Students are grouped by age and prior knowledge so that teaching can be appropriately targeted and challenging. It is a fun, active, educational and confidence-building programme that will cover Maths, English and exam techniques with practice. A dynamic course that will motivate and excite learning.

Our intensive courses aren't simply five days of following a fixed programme. At the end of each day, our teachers meet to review how the children have performed. We then use this information to plan the following day's teaching around the needs of the group and individual pupils. This allows us to spend more time on areas where children need additional support while continuing to challenge those who are ready to progress.

For additional practice outside the classroom, we also offer our own CSSE 11+ Mock Exam Practice Papers, allowing children to continue developing their English, Maths and exam technique at home.

Who are the 11+ Intensive Courses suitable for?

Our 11+ Intensive Courses are designed for children in Years 3, 4 and 5 who are preparing for the Essex CSSE 11+ examination.

Each year group follows an age-appropriate programme, with teaching adapted to the children's current level of knowledge and understanding.

The courses are particularly useful for children who would benefit from focused additional preparation during the school holidays, whether they are just beginning their 11+ journey or are further along in their preparation.

What subjects are covered during the 11+ Intensive Course?

Our intensive courses focus on the key areas children need for the Essex CSSE 11+, including English, Maths, 11+ exam technique and practice.

English work includes areas such as writing, comprehension, vocabulary, accuracy and understanding how to approach different question types.

Maths includes areas such as problem solving, multi-step questions, fractions, percentages, ratio and algebra.

Children also develop their ability to work accurately and efficiently under timed conditions and learn strategies for approaching 11+ examination questions.

What happens during the 11+ Intensive Course?

The intensive runs over five mornings, with children receiving focused teaching and preparation each day.

Lessons include a combination of teaching, guided practice, independent work and examination-style questions.

Our aim is to provide a balance of developing knowledge and skills, applying those skills to 11+ questions and building the confidence needed to work independently.

At the end of each day, our teaching team reviews the children's progress and uses this to help plan the following day's teaching.

How is the teaching adapted to my child's needs?

At the end of each day, our teachers meet to review the children's work and identify areas where the group or individual pupils may need additional support or challenge.

The following day's teaching can then be adapted accordingly.

This allows us to spend more time on areas that children are finding difficult while continuing to challenge those who are ready to progress further.

This is one of the key benefits of our intensive courses compared with simply completing a set of 11+ worksheets at home.

Can my child attend more than one Intensive Course?

Yes. Children can attend more than one intensive week, and many families choose to do so as part of their ongoing 11+ preparation.

Each intensive course covers different material, so attending additional weeks provides further opportunities to develop knowledge, practise examination techniques and address areas that may still need improvement.

Where appropriate, the progress made during one intensive can also help inform the teaching in subsequent courses.

Where are the 11+ Intensive Courses held?

Our 11+ Intensive Courses are held at The Jacqui Robinson Education Centre in Colchester, Essex.

The courses take place in our usual teaching environment, allowing children to learn in a familiar, supportive setting while benefiting from focused teaching during the school holidays.
