Assessing your child's needs
Your child’s tutor will work with them for forty minutes in a friendly, fun, informal way to ascertain their reading age, Maths level and English level.
During the assessment, they will have the opportunity to chat to the tutor and gain confidence and a sense of belonging at the centre
On your return, the tutor will give you feedback as well as spending twenty minutes talking to you about your child's individual education plan.
Your child will then receive a gift and an appropriate Maths book so we can get them started and nurture their enthusiasm immediately.
Feedback
We give honest full feedback. Our aim is for happy, well-educated students and this can only be achieved if we are honest and work together. Your tutor will discuss your child’s current needs and listen carefully to any information you give us which will help us teach your child.
We want to work with you to help support and educate your child. We understand that you are the most important influence in your child’s life and we appreciate that your support at home is key to their success.
Price of assessment and enrolment
We are currently running free Assessment and Enrolment sessions for the month of July. This is open to new parents and current parents looking to start their younger children with us. Our Assessment and Enrolment sessions are usually £42 to book.
Please call the office on 01206 827495 to book your child's assessment or use the booking portal above.
How will the assessment work?
This is a friendly, informal assessment - not a pass or fail exam.
Assessments last one hour – you bring your child, look around our bright and friendly teaching rooms and when you are happy, you leave your child with their tutor for forty minutes.
After chatting with the teacher, your child will be asked to write about their family. They will be given a reading age test and be assessed in Maths.
After forty minutes, you return to a very happy and comfortable child. You will then receive feedback and spend twenty minutes with your tutor, who will explain what we have seen and how to move forward. During this time, your child will show you how well they have done and then work on a given task.
You will be offered a variety of appropriate times and days so that you can choose a time that suits you and your child's needs so that you can start classes the following week.
